About our school

Yanco Agricultural High School is a selective agricultural high school emphasising the study of agriculture. Isolated students are given some priority with boarding places.

The school has a mix of weekly and full time boarding students. There are no day students at Yanco Agricultural High School.

You can request an information package and prospectus by contacting our school directly.

The enrolment application process for students intending to start Year 7 is different to the application process for students from Years 8 through 11.

Applications for Years 7-11 are now made direct to the school.

Year 7 Enrolment

Year 7 Applications for enrolment are now submitted directly to the school rather than through the Selective High School Unit. This means your child is no longer required to sit an entry exam. Please note that this change does not at all detract from our Selective High Schools status.

Entry is now through a rigorous application and interview process, led by the school executive.

Applications open up from mid-November (when your child is in year 5) and close at the end of Term 1 (when your child is in year 6). You will need to submit two recent years worth of school reports and NAPLAN results, after which you may be invited to attend an interview.

Year 8 to 11 Enrolment

The number of vacancies varies from year to year for the different year groups.

Entry to Yanco Agricultural High School in Year 8 to Year 11 is by application and interview. Enrolment application forms for Year 8 to Year 11 can be downloaded from the Selective Schools Unit or obtained from Yanco Agricultural High School (please contact us by phone, email).

Along with the official enrolment application form, Yanco Agricultural High School has specific requirements that must be included with your application. These include copies of most recent reports and NAPLAN results, a letter from the student indicating why they wish to attend this school, what they could contribute to the school and what benefits they hope to achieve by attending Yanco Agricultural High School. All intending applicants should confirm these requirements before they submit their applications, in writing, to the school.

Applications are usually available around June/July. Applicants proceeding to interview will be contacted and interviews usually held in August/September. Outcome advice letters and further information on the next steps in the process are usually sent to parents through October and November.

Students offered enrolment in Years 8 to 10 for the following year should plan to attend a transition program for three days and two nights later in the year, in readiness for beginning Yanco Agricultural High School.

Students entering Year 11 will attend a two week leadership camp at the end of the year preceding their enrolment.

These two programs are important in the orientation of both students and parents commencing enrolment at Yanco Agricultural High School.
