Additional learning support
At our school, we ensure every student is ready to learn. We support students with disability and additional learning needs so they can take part in all areas of school life. You do not need a formal diagnosis for your child to receive support in a mainstream class. Support can begin at any stage of school.
Support that fits your child's needs
Some students need extra support to feel confident and do their best at school.
We are proud to be a fully inclusive school. Every student – whether they are gifted, twice-exceptional, or need a little extra help to reach their potential – belongs here and is supported to grow.
We work closely with families to make support plans and adjustments that suits each child’s needs. Our dedicated Learning and Support Team works closely with classroom teachers, families, and external specialists to ensure barriers to learning are identified early and addressed effectively.
How we provide additional support
- Collaborative planning between teachers, support staff, parents/carers, and the student themselves
- Evidence-based small-group interventions such as MacLit (reading) and QuickSmart Numeracy
- In-class adjustments including simplified or alternative materials, scaffolding, and different ways to demonstrate understanding
- Assessment provisions tailored to individual needs, for example: – Extra time – Reader/writer or technology support – Rest breaks – Simplified language or instructions – Alternative formats (oral responses, scribing, practical demonstrations)
How we know when a student needs help
We monitor every child carefully through:
- Ongoing classroom observation (learning progress and wellbeing)
- Regular analysis of assessment data and work samples
- Conversations with parents/carers and the students themselves
When extra support seems beneficial, we reach out promptly. All adjustments and interventions are developed together with families, clearly documented, and reviewed to ensure they remain the right fit.
Does your child need a little extra help?
Adjustments are planned with parents and carers. They are reviewed regularly and changed when needed.

Respect Attitude and Teamwork (RAT) Program
Our Respect, Attitude & Teamwork (RAT) Program provides focused, relationship-based support for students who would benefit from extra help with literacy and life skills.
How it works
- Small-group sessions are led by dedicated RAT mentors who quickly become trusted adults in each student’s life.
- The heart of the program is genuine rapport: mentors take time to know each student’s interests, strengths, and challenges, creating a safe space where effort is celebrated and progress feels achievable.
- Literacy support is explicit, systematic, and evidence-based, with a strong emphasis on improving reading accuracy, fluency, comprehension, spelling, and written expression.
- Practical lessons take learning outdoors, teaching teamwork, resilience, problem-solving, challenges and real-life skills through hands-on activities such as bushcraft, navigation, camp cooking, and community projects.
Girls Connect
Girls Connect is a mental health and wellness program that supports the empowerment of girls while creating a safe space where they can be themselves, be inspired, experience achievement, and gain a sense of belonging with their peers.
How it works
- The program strives to empower all girls by providing them with the foundational skills to build their confidence and achieve an interest in self and peer care.
- Incorporating community partnerships and mindfulness activities, Girls Connect aims to support students to build communication skills, improve self-esteem, make values-based decisions, and be empowered to be the best versions of themselves.
- The program specifically aims to decrease stress, depression and anxiety. It creates a nurturing experience for students and encourages them to be gentle with and care for themselves and others.
