Community involvement
Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community.
We are very fortunate to have the support of active and dedicated organisations such as the YAHS P&C, Old Yanconians' Union, Old Yanconians' Foundation and Riverina Careers Hub. These groups, along with all current and past students, families and staff are considered part of "the Yanco Family" and help to make our school a better place for everyone.
Supporting our school
The Yanco Agricultural High School (YAHS) parents and citizens association (P&C) is an integral aspect of the school. The P&C association organisation liaises with the school and parents on issues or concerns that have been raised within the school year.
Meetings
The YAHS P&C association welcomes all parents and citizens to all meetings and events at Yanco Agricultural High School.
The YAHS P&C association meets once a term each year. The Term 1 meeting is the annual general meeting which is held on the first day back each year where all parents have the opportunity to attend the meeting and discuss issues. It is at this meeting that the new office bearers and coordinators for the P&C's subcommittees are elected.
The remaining three meetings held throughout the year are:
- Term 2 – held in May via Teleconference, so all parents can pick up the phone and be involved in the P&C meeting wherever they are.
- Term 3 – held in August via Teleconference also.
- Term 4 – held in November during transition program at YAHS where all parents of new students are able to attend and be introduced to the YAHS P&C association. At this meeting the YAHS P&C association allocates funds back to the school from fundraising events held throughout the year.
Agendas and minutes
YAHS P&C association agendas and minutes for all P&C meetings are emailed to parents through the school, so please ensure the school always has your correct email address.

Former students of Yanco Agricultural High School (YAHS) are universally known as Old Yanconians.
YAHS is unique among schools, and the friendship and bond between students, and also staff, does not end when a student leaves the school.
There is something special about being a Yanconian, and once a Yanconian always a Yanconian.
Our purpose
The Old Yanconians' Union (OYU) fosters the ongoing relationship between former students and also has an ongoing involvement with the school. The OYU is active in recording the history of YAHS and in coordinating reunions.
Many times over the years Old Yanconians have also generously donated their time and finances to assist with activities and projects at the school.
Reunions
One of the highlights on the OYU calendar is the annual reunion dinner held on the Friday evening of Beach Carnival each year. This is often a time when former students also organise specific year group reunions.
Get connected
The OYU publishes the Yanco Echo which shares current school news and updates of former students and staff with OYU members.
With a membership of over 2,000, the OYU stays connected with more than 1,300 members through newsletters, regional and annual reunion dinners, social media and a Yanconian Business Directory.
The Old Yanconians' Foundation is an active, prosperous and innovative alumni organisation. The Old Yanconians' Union Inc. has incorporated a Foundation complete with DGR status, which simply means donors can now claim full tax deductibility for any financial contributions they may wish to invest in the Foundation.
Making a mark in agriculture
We want to make a mark on Australia's future through the dynamic young men and women who attend Yanco Ag now and into the years ahead.
There is a nationwide shortage of agricultural graduates right now.
Your support, both morally and financially will certainly ensure our students are better prepared for a positive future in Australia.
'As you sow, so shall you reap'.
The Riverina Careers Hub, developed by the Old Yanconians' Union and the Yanconians' Foundation, serves as a one-stop resource for parents and students.
Career opportunities
It aims to provide insights into study and employment opportunities and foster relationships between schools and businesses within the Riverina region of NSW.
Annual P&C fundraising events
Annual fundraising events coordinated by the YAHS P&C association include:
Beach Carnival
The Beach Carnival is a fantastic day on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River full of fun for the whole family. There are many events for the students to participate in, including beach activities and marching for their sporting houses. Bring along your picnic lunch and wear house colours to support your children.
Gala Day
This event is the major YAHS P&C association fundraising event held for the year and is coordinated by the YAHS P&C association, with the support and assistance of staff and students at school. Activities vary from year to year but may include:
- stalls from local producers.
- sporting houses and year groups have many activities for Gala Day.
- shearing competition
- student art, photography, wood and metal work display.
The Beach Carnival and Gala Day events are traditionally held on the third Friday and Saturday in March annually.
McCaughey Ball
The P&C is also responsible for organising the very popular McCaughey Ball for Year 11 and Year 12 students and their parents held in June each year.
All events help the YAHS P&C association raise some much-needed funds to be distributed to assist the school for student welfare and educational aspects that will be of benefit all students at YAHS.
