At YAHS Students are housed, according to their gender in multiple dormitories

Recreation Room in Breakwell Dormitory.

All dormitories are centrally heated and air-conditioned and contain lockable cupboard space for each student. Students are required to provide their own padlock for their locker. Each student is provided with a bed, desk and chair in addition to their own locker and bedside table. All dormitories are locked and out-of-bounds to all students during school hours.

Students are accommodated in dormitory style accommodation until in Year 12, where they usually have their own individual room.

Students are expected to secure personal items over leave weekends and term breaks, and to clear their dormitories completely over the summer vacation period. The School's facilities are often made available to outside agencies during holidays and leave weekends, at these times students are expected to take valuables home and empty their lockers into storage bags supplied by the school.

Boarders are provided with a wide choice of recreational facilities to enjoy including recreation rooms, a fully equipped and supervised gym and swimming pool.

Personal requisites

Along with the recommended uniform requirements, boarders’ personal requisites are listed below. All belongings should be clearly marked with the student’s name. Iron on tags must also be sewn on as they come off in the dryers.

Laundry and cleaning

A complete laundry service (washing & drying) is provided for all students on weekdays. Students can drop off and collect washing during the week.

Dormitories are cleaned by a team of cleaners during term. The cleaning staff are diligent about cleanliness and hygiene and trained in the proper use of cleaning chemicals.
