It has been established elsewhere on this website that YAHS is unique among schools, and the friendship and bond between students, and also staff, does not end when a student leaves the school.
There is something special about being a Yanconian, and once a Yanconian always a Yanconian.
There is an Old Yanconians' Union (OYU) which fosters the ongoing relationship between former students and also has an ongoing involvement with the school. The OYU is active in recording the history of YAHS and in co-ordinating reunions.
Many times over the years Old Yanconians have also generously donated their time and finances to assist with many activities and projects at the school.
One of the highlights on the OYU calendar is the annual reunion dinner held on the Friday evening of Beach Carnival each year. This is often a time when former students also organise specific year group reunions.
The OYU publishes the Yanco Echo which shares current school news and updates of former students and staff with OYU members.
