Yanco Agricultural High School is a selective agricultural high school emphasising the study of agriculture. Isolated students are given some priority with boarding places.
The school has a mix of weekly and full time boarding students. There are no day students at Yanco Agricultural High School.

The enrolment application process for students intending to start Year 7 is different to the application process for students from Years 8 through 12. However, all applications for enrolment must be completed on official NSW Department of Communities Selective Schools Unit enrolment forms.

The boarding fees for weekly and full time boarding students at Yanco Agricultural High School are set by the NSW Department of Education and Communities and are usually announced at the end of each year for the following year.

A number of general contributions and parent and citizens association levies, along with a local transport fee are also charged and these are also detailed on the schedule of fees and charges.
Subject contributions, specific to each year group and subject range are charged out at the beginning of Term 2.
Further fees and charges will be associated with students stabling a horse at school and these are detailed in the school's equine policy.
From time to time excursions and other opportunities may arise for which students will need to pay to participate. Parents will be advised as soon as possible if this is the case.
