Enrolment for Year 7 is through a selective school's placement.
We encourage you to visit the selective schools website as it contains useful information, including parent notification dates, and sample test papers, which will help prepare your child for the exam.
If you have missed registration and wish for your child to sit this exam please register through the selective schools website.
Year 7 enrolment
Apart from exceptional circumstances, Year 7 applications for enrolment must be completed online and must be started while your child is still in Year 5. These applications usually close in late October or early November the year your child is in Year 5. There are components of the application for that parents must complete and the principal of your child's primary school must also complete part of the application form before it is returned to the Selective Schools Unit.
Year 7 entry is determined by the student's results in the Selective High School Placement Test (which occurs in March the year your child is in Year 6) in English (including reading and writing), Mathematics and General Ability, together with their primary school's assessment of their performance in English and Mathematics. Other evidence of academic merit may also be considered.
Outcome advice is mailed to parents around July and where your child is being made an offer to attend Yanco Agricultural High School, this advice will contain information about the next steps in the application process.
Once you accept your offer to attend, in writing to the Selective Schools Unit, you will receive further paperwork from our school.
If your child is unsuccessful in receiving an offer to attend Year 7 your outcome advice will also indicate whether or not your child has been placed on the reserved list or waiting list to attend.
Students offered a place in Year 7 should plan to attend a 3 day transition and orientation program at Yanco Agricultural High School late in their Year 6 year. This program also includes a number of components for parents.
