HSC Agriculture students undertake cattle AI program

Over the past month students in the HSC Agriculture course have been busy selecting sires to use over females from the Yanco Shorthorn Stud and McCaughey Limousin herds as part of the 2014 cattle joining program.

The students were involved in all facets of the Oestrous Synchronisation program, which included some early mornings and late nights when administering reproductive hormones, heat detection and assisting with the artificial insemination of the cows.

With all females programmed showing signs of heat, we look forward to seeing how conception rates fair.
